Emerald de Leeuw-Goggin is a leading expert in privacy and AI governance, currently serving as the Global Head of Privacy and AI Governance at an international technology company. Her expertise in the field was awarded with the accolade of Privacy Executive of the Year 2023. Emerald's professional journey in privacy began with her founding of Eurocomply, a privacy-tech company, after writing her master thesis on the GDPR in 2012. Her leadership in this venture led to numerous awards, including European Young Innovator of the Year and inclusion in Forbes' 100 European female founders to follow.
As a speaker, Emerald is known for her engaging presentations at conferences like TEDx and WomeninTech, and at institutions such as MIT Sloan and the European Parliament. Her talks cover a range of topics including privacy, AI governance, and supporting female entrepreneurs. In 2021, she was named a Marshall Memorial Fellow with the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
Emerald holds a bachelor’s degree in Law, two master's degrees, one in E-Law and Intellectual Property Law and another in Business Information Systems, both with First-Class Honours. She furthered her education by completing her executive education at Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2023. Her blend of skills in legal, technology, and business areas makes her a key figure in shaping the future of privacy and AI governance.
Shoshana Rosenberg's marked acumen and expertise reflect an international lens on human rights law, emerging and AI technologies, data security, and business strategy. With over 17 years in international data protection law, and 12 years as a global chief privacy officer, Shoshana is also a seasoned executive and corporate attorney, and a U.S. Navy Veteran. She currently leads AI and data governance and privacy at a leading U.S. professional services firm.
Shoshana is also a founding member and the strategic programs advisor for Logical AI Governance, whose training programs help privacy and compliance leaders understand how to build, operationalize, and refine AI Governance programs. She is also the founder and CEO of SafePorter, a PICCASO EU Privacy Award winning B Corp with the only privacy-by-design DEI and engagement tools suite. Shoshana is a keynote and frequent speaker advocating for explainability by design and the need for a holistic and multi-disciplinary approach to AI governance. She has focused on the overlap of Privacy and DEI for the last ten years, and in 2023 established "I Statements" resources focused on Explainability by Design and the intersection of AI, Privacy and DEI.
Shoshana's is an advocate for social entrepreneurship and her work has a consistent focus on technology, inclusion and human rights. She has served a three-year term on the IAPP Diversity in Privacy Advisory Board, 5 years on the Board of Inclusion by Design, and spent 9 years as the Board Chair of the Ethiopia-based NGO she helped to found, Uryadi's Village.

She founded the Digital Trust Summit for leaders to reimagine effective data oversight. Named a Diligent Modern Governance 100 leader, a “Privacy Vanguard” for greatness in privacy” and a LA Times “Legal Visionary,” she has won 27 awards. A board member of the AI Governance Center and the International Association of Privacy Professionals, she is certified in privacy and board governance. Emma has worked in data protection for over 25 years. Starting her career as a data protection officer in the public sector, she moved to work in the regulatory office for Jersey, Channel Islands, in 2002. Since then, she has been Commissioner for Jersey and, since 2018, for the Bailiwick of Guernsey where she worked with a team responsible for implementation, oversight, and adequacy assessment for the new GDPR-standard legal framework for the Islands. Her fixed term in that role finished in December 2023. In January 2024, Emma was appointed as Chief Commissioner for the Data and Marketing Commission. She also has a small portfolio of work acting in an advisory role and is a charity trustee.
Throughout her career, Emma has been committed to driving high standards of ethical and legal data handling and encouraging more inclusive and accessible conversations around the role of data in our lives. She is a strong advocate of cultural engagement and has spearheaded a number of community-wide initiatives to support social and economic benefits that come with effective data protection.

Women in AI Governance (WiAIG) was born of an understanding that AI governance is inherently dynamic and will continuously shift and evolve alongside technology, organizational risk appetites, and international regulations. AI governance requires the continual adaptation and a proactive approach to managing the risks and opportunities presented by AI innovation.
WiAIG was founded by two seasoned privacy experts and dynamic technology entrepreneurs, Emerald de Leeuw-Goggin and Shoshana Rosenberg. Both founders are recognized thought leaders in the intersection of AI, privacy and governance. Their extensive backgrounds in pioneering new approaches, developing software solutions, and leading industry dialogues enhance our initiative’s capacity to influence and lead in AI governance, promoting a diverse and engaged community.

Anna Pouliou is an internationally recognized data protection expert with over 15 years of experience in this field. She is a qualified attorney and has held leading roles and led privacy teams in major global corporations but also worked as a partner in the Big4, offering data protection advisory services to private and public sectors alike. In February 2024, she was appointed Chair of the Data Protection Commission at CERN, the data protection supervisory authority of the European Organization for Nuclear Research.
Anna is also a lecturer and senior fellow in Data Governance, International Privacy Laws, Artificial Intelligence and other related topics at the Universities of Saint-Gallen and Maastricht as well as a regular speaker on technology, IoT, AI, digitalization and data protection with over 100 speaking engagements delivered around the world.
Anna Pouliou
Throughout her career, Anna has been actively involved in the advocacy discussions in Brussels and Washington DC since the birth of the GDPR as well as in the international debate on data transfers. Between 2017 and 2022, she was one of the 27 members of the GDPR Multi-Stakeholder Expert Group advising the European Commission on GDPR implementation on behalf of Business Europe. She has also accompanied the European Commission during bilateral discussions on data protection with the US Congress, the governments and privacy regulators of India, Indonesia, Singapore and during multilateral ones at the G20 in Japan. Anna has also acted as National Rapporteur for data protection for the International Federation for European Law (FIDE) in the team of Prof. Vassilis Skouris, former President of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
Dr. Gabriela Zanfir-Fortuna is Vice President for Global Privacy for the Washington DC-based Future of Privacy Forum, a global non-profit present in Brussels, Tel Aviv, Singapore, Nairobi, and New Delhi where she leads the work on global privacy and data protection developments related to new technologies, including AI. With 15 years of experience in the field split between Europe and the US, spanning academia, public service, consulting and policy, Dr. Zanfir-Fortuna is a member of the Reference Panel of the Global Privacy Assembly - the international organization reuniting all data protection authorities around the world, and a member of the T20 engagement group of the G20 under Brazil’s Presidency in 2024. She was also a member of the Executive Committee of ACM's Fairness, Accountability and Transparency (FaccT) Conference (2021-2022). Her scholarship on the GDPR is referenced by the Court of Justice of the EU, and in 2023 she won the Stefano Rodota Award of the Council of Europe for the paper "The Thin Red Line: Refocusing Data Protection Law on Automated-Decision-Making". Dr. Zanfir-Fortuna holds a PhD in Law with a thesis on the rights of the data subject under EU Data Protection Law, and an LLM in Human Rights.
